Italy's two most successful clubs will meet at the San Siro at the weekend in a big game for both sides. For Milan, they could really do with a big morale-boosting win whilst Juventus need to maintain the pace with Napoli at the top of the table. Who will come out on top? Our preview looks at both sides chances.

Montella under pressure

This year was supposed to be the season that AC Milan returned to their former glories. After a summer outlay of over £150 million, expectations were huge on the red side of the city. Talents such as Andre Silva, Ricardo Rodriguez and Hakan Calhanoglu were expected to take the club to the next level whilst the shock arrival of Leonardo Bonucci was seen as the real game-changer. For Milan to take advantage of the Italian international's fall-out with the Juventus hierarchy and bring him to the San Siro was a real coup. His experience and defensive qualities were expected to help Milan compete on all fronts this season but so far, it has not materialised.

They currently sit eigth in Serie A, having lost three successive games recently to Sampdoria, Roma and Inter and were held to a 0-0 draw at home to AEK Athens in the Europa League. The pressure was eased somewhat on manager Vincenzo Montella, with a 4-1 mid-week victory over Chievo. A defeat in this encounter however would bring Montella back under intense scrutiny and he will have to do without the services of Bonucci once again. A red-card in Milan's 0-0 draw with Genoa for an elbow will mean Bonucci will serve the second of his two-match ban against his previous employers but his form this season means that might not be such a bad thing...

The Old Lady to pile on the misery?

Juventus came unstuck against Lazio in a rare home defeat but they have since responded emphatically, with a 6-2 win at Udinese followed up by a 4-1 home win over SPAL. Whilst the form of Paulo Dybala in the early part of the season was nothing short of incredible as he hit 10 goals in 6 games, in recent games the goal-scoring burden has been shared around. Their overall tally in the league this season now stands at 31 in 10 games so it's safe to say Max Allegri's men are looking strong going forward.

Whilst Leonardo Bonucci has not hit the ground running in Milan, his absence is definitely being felt by his former club. Juve haven't kept a clean sheet on the road this season and have conceded six goals in their last three Serie A games. They appear more vulnerable than in previous scenes but do Milan have it in them to take advantage?

The Old Lady come in to this game three points behind Napoli in the table and one behind Inter. They have undeniably been Italy's top dog in recent season but should they slip up in this encouter, the gap between themselves and the Neopolitans is likely to extend even further. How will they cope with being the hunters as oppose to being the hunted?

Juventus have hardly been in the best form as of late but nonetheless they should beat Milan here. The home side just don't look to have any sense of cohesion and whilst they can take advantage of Juve's leaky defence, the Old Lady will ultimately outscore them.
